Yvonne Lefort, MA, is a career coach and intercultural trainer. She has a Master’s degree in Career Development and has been working in the field of career counseling for over 25 years. Yvonne has experience working with a variety of individuals. She has coached adults in career transition, international spouses, re-entry mothers, laid-off workers, college students, refugees and immigrants. She has worked in a variety of settings, including colleges and universities, public career centers, outplacement firms, and English as a Second Language programs. She has also worked as a consultant internationally. Her private career coaching practice is in the San Francisco East Bay.
Yvonne speaks several foreign languages and has lived and worked in France and Germany. As a result, she understands the challenges of finding work and living in a foreign country, and brings her cultural sensitivity to her work with people from other countries.
Her most recent work has been as a Career Consultant with a USAID project in Morocco. Because of her extensive experience as a career coach and trainer, Yvonne has been training and coaching new career coaches (in French) at career centers throughout Morocco.
In addition to individual career coaching, Yvonne has developed and taught a variety of classes. At the University of California – Berkeley, she taught a 10-week long course for international spouses called “Creating a Fulfilling Life in America.” Her work with international spouses at UC Berkeley was featured in several Bay Area newspapers. In addition, for several years she has been teaching job search workshops for French expats and other international job seekers at the French-American Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco and in the Silicon Valley.
She also was an adjunct faculty member at Diablo Valley Community College, where she taught courses on career transitions and worked with students doing cooperative education. She has taught courses on a variety of topics, including international careers, self-assessment, resume-writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques. As the founder of Mothers in Balance, she also developed and taught many courses designed especially for mothers.
Yvonne has been a guest speaker on local television and has been quoted as a career expert in Newsweek magazine.
